~ LOGAN'S STORY ~

"Hardworking, very caring" Pennsylvania boy, bullied for his birthmark, finished 9th Grade online after video of school attack went viral.

Handsome Logan / October 2023 Friend Mail Recipient

15-year-old Logan from Pennsylvania is "very caring, hardworking, and giving," says his mom, and often shares his income with his 9-year-old brother by giving him easy tasks to earn it. The trustworthy 10th Grader has been working for 2 years already in a diner. He loves to work on cars and is considering welding and auto mechanics as career choices. Clearly ambitious, Logan shadows a local auto mechanic and even bought a Ford Explorer with a blown-out motor to fix in order to practice and learn the trade. Logan's main passion and hobby is riding and racing dirt bikes and 4-wheelers!

According to Logan's grandmother who was interviewed by Reporter Matt Mathias of Erie.com news, her grandson has endured bullying for years. Logan's mom says bullies have targeted him mainly for his facial birthmark. They have also purposely harassed him for not "doing drugs" and because he chooses to work with his hands. His phone has even been stolen and hid. In May of 2023, the bullying that Logan never talked about became the subject of local news features. A classmate had followed Logan from study hall to the school bathroom and attacked him. Instead of standing up for Logan, several bystanders encouraged the bully to "hit him harder" and "hit him more" and took video.

When bystander video of this attack went viral among the students, it was the last straw for the courageous 9th Grader. Like most victims of bullying and violence, Logan was shouldering great anxiety. With the support of his parents, he made the decision to finish the rest of his 9th Grade school year online. Logan has returned in person this fall for 10th Grade.

Hardworking, ambitious, caring and giving - that is Logan! 🥰
